Shopping for food


We have covered grammatical cases in the previous lesson. We already learnt some basic verbs and how to use them in the present continuous tenseNow, we can go and do some grocery shopping!


Markete gidiyorum.

— I am going to a grocery store.

Ekmek, su, süt, yoğurt, yumurta ve sucuk istiyorum.

— I want bread, water, milk, yogurt, eggs and (dry&spicy) sausages.

Selin: Merhaba! İki ekmek alabilir miyim?

— Hi! Can I get two breads?

Bakkal: Buyrun! Başka bir şey lazım mı?

— Here it is! Do you need anything else?

Selin: Bir şişe su istiyorum.

— I want a bottle of water.

Bakkal: Soğuk mu sıcak mı?

— Cold or hot?

Selin: Soğuk. İki litre de süt, lütfen.

— Cold. I also want 2 liters of milk, please.

Bakkal: Hepsi bu kadar mı?

— Is that all?

Selin: Bir kutu yoğurt, bir paket yumurta ve sucuk istiyorum.

— I want a tub of yogurt, a packet of eggs and a sausage.

Bakkal: Buyrun!
Fakat, maalesef sucuk yok.

— Here they are! But, unfortunately there is no sausage.

Selin: Sorun değil. Hepsi ne kadar?

— No problem. How much all these?

Bakkal: Hepsi yirmi lira.

— All of them cost twenty liras.

Selin: Buyrun.
Poşet alabilir miyim?

— Here it is (money). Can I get a plastic bag?

Bakkal: Tabii buyrun. İyi günler. Yine bekleriz!

— Of course! Have a good day! Come again!
